2015 Trends: What’s ahead

By 23 de May de 2014November 8th, 2023No Comments

If last winter was the time to refresh the 50´s silhouette, trends for next autumn suggest that we will travel back in time to vindicate the relaxed and feminine aesthetics of the 60´s. The aim is to obtain a look like Jane Birkin with white skinny trousers or a trapeze line dress like those Brigitte Bardot wore.

To complete the styling, the handbag will continue being the indisputable Queen. This type of purse, also called clutch, has displaced the minipurse and the bandoleer trembles to its step. From maxi size, in soft leather for the day, to rigid and very small for the night, versions of the clutch purses are infinite- many incorporate thin chains for those moments in which comfort is everything- allowing their constant use, from the streets to red carpets, as we have seen in big fashion icons such as Kate Moss, Alexa Chung and Olivia Palermo. Nowadays, clutch purses belong not only to the night or the major events like they had done so far, but they also feel like a perfect option to sophisticate any shirt & jeans evening outfit, as if it were some very high heels.

Another trend will be tassels & fringe purses, since they are no longer Pocahontas´s exclusive domain. And the fashion billboard announces to great fanfare that fringe purses are back to stay. Like the everlasting Rolling Stones, who are always there, timeless. Thus, handbags and purses will be filled with threads and strips by the way of enticing curtains, inviting us to dream with intermittent adventures, thanks to its veiled effect. Gucci, Valentino, Marc Jacobs and Céline are some of the brands adhering to this proposal of tassel & fringe purses.

Another classic purse that will become indispensable this autumn season is the Doctor Bag, known for its shape resembling the briefcases that doctors used to wear. It is a versatile, comfortable and elegant model, with a retro flair that fits to almost any style. Combined with short gloves and a 40´s style midi skirt contributes to a very feminine look.

As for footwear, the bet to flat shoes continues, as in previous seasons, even with sophisticated gowns. Since Chanel & Dior combined their majestic High-Couture creations with sport shoes, the comfortable footwear has turned into a global macrotrend. “No more to heels” & “Hurrah the moccasins and the ballerinas!” is what this fashion trend seems to be shouting, since it gives (a lot of!) comfort to the feet, which will allow women to move around with an unusual ease.

When speaking of materials, to combine multiple fabrics in the same purse or pair of shoes will also be trendy, same as the worn out effect or ‘perfect’ imperfections. As for colour, hue gradients will triumph this next season, a technique that combines different shades in the same item and that is applied both in clothing and shoes, wallets and all type of accessories.
